Our VISION

Meet The People Behind FREE?

“The art that I create has allowed me to find freedom in a world that strives to keep me enslaved both mentally and physically. My work is “The art that I create has allowed me to find freedom in a world that strives to keep me enslaved both mentally and physically. My work is a window into the world of black life. It’s struggles, and beauties are on full display and I do not shy away from being brutally honestly in my portrayals and in the way that I tell stories about this cultural dynamic. Each project that I create is filled with love as this is the only emotion that allows me to create purely. The love that I have is not just for black people, but for anyone who values my life and existence as a black man, and it is my job as an artist to make those who I love conscious of the things that they do not see.”

— Jonathan Arrington, Founder of FREE?

Born and raised in Prince George’s County, Maryland, Jonathan has returned back to the DMV after receiving his BA in Film and Media Studies with a minor in Theater from Lafayette College. Although a multi-media artist, Jonathan’s concentration is in both screenwriting and playwrighting, along with acting and directing for both the screen and stage. He intends to create projects that pay homage to the DMV along with exposing the world to its beauty, and its complications.

“There is something about transforming an idea into a beautiful work of art that has always intrigued me. I can say this was my first true love. I live my life in color which means to appreciate all that comes with it. I’ve created many works within the field of art. I feel as though making art is my purpose in this world. Everything I create is a reflection of my mind. My perception of people, feelings, and interests are expressed to the fullest. The saying goes “Art always appreciates with time,” and one day the time will come when my art is appreciated. Being able to create is what I value the most.”

— Rahmani Holt, Creative Director of FREE?

Born in Fairfax, Virginia, and raised in Prince George’s County, Maryland. Rahmani has received his BS in Art + Design at Towson University. Making traditional art is Rahmani’s strongest skill, but he partakes in designing as well. He will be one of the creatives behind FREE? and would bring concepts to life.

“Turning imagination into a reality is the purpose that I am meant to fulfill in life. I have dedicated my time and energy into improving my craft. Being an artist allows me to express how I feel. It allows me to tell stories not just in words, but in living color. It’s my obligation to share my stories globally. I want my creations to have deeper meanings that requires people to look within themselves in order to find answers. I’m hear to inspire others with more than just black and white but with a whole palette of colors”
